We are losing our roots, so in other words to understand according to English education, it's Indian Teacher's Day.
Our modern education system replaced gurus with teachers.
There is a huge difference between Guru and a Teacher.
The current education model is replaced with Service provider and consumer but the relationship between guru and student was more like the relation between a god and his devote.
All we have now are teachers who train the students in certain skills which they don’t even bother if the student wants to learn or not and whether it's useful to them or not. Most of the teachers in school neither mentor, nor guide their students nor do they know about it.
These days teachers know their students by their grades and ranks.
Any student with a low grade is stamped as dumb or useless, this is the way of education these days. Not offending teachers but this is how today's system is working and expected to work.

A Guru is far beyond a teacher.
A Guru literally means heavy with knowledge, is a master, counsellor, guide.
Guru helps his shishya (Students) with the mind (चित्त) and self (आत्मा), add values (याम and नियम).
Every person needs two gurus, Gurus Antar guru (अन्तः गुरुः) and Bahar guru (बाह्य गुरुः). Bahar guru is the external guru who teaches and awakens the Antar guru. Antar guru is within you yourself, your consciousness.

As part of our homeschooling, at home Mother is the first guru for our kids.
And this is a small gesture of gratitude to their guru.
