🎒 Education System In India for Every Unique Child
Is your child struggling to find passion in one of the 5 mandatory subjects, yet they must persevere until 10th grade?
Is your child grappling with a challenging subject, struggling to grasp it, & simply aiming to scrape by for examination and move forward?
Do you ever wonder if all the subjects we've studied & children are currently studying are truly valuable and universally applicable to every child?
📚 There are majorly 3 educational boards in India which are famous
CBSE, ICSE, State Boards. Each board has its unique approach, yet mandatory subjects often remain generalized until the 10th standard with Mathematics , Sciences and Socials taking space. These boards are mostly useful for children who in future tend to study in STEM or Medical or Civil Services.
🌈 My Take on Education for Uniquely Abled Children
I've witnessed children on the Autism Spectrum, children with ADHD, & those facing developmental delays often grappling with the traditional 5 subjects taught across various boards. These kids possess unique talents; some excel in empathy, care, and cooking, while others shine in areas like current affairs, environmental awareness, and hands-on learning. Some are exceptional artists, deeply connected to culture and tradition.
For many, subjects like Mathematics & certain sections of science, such as chemistry, can become quite challenging and difficult to grasp. Additionally, they often find it hard to relate to concepts like studying for the future or competing for jobs, as these topics may feel disconnected from their own world
🏠 Home Schooling Kids
Even homeschooled kids aiming for specialized futures require Secondary and Senior Secondary Education, yet they often find the majority of subjects from common boards less relevant.
🆕 This is where I would like to share with you all the NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) board of education.
In NIOS 10th Grade, students can choose 5 subjects from a wide range of options, including unconventional ones like Painting, Indian heritage and culture, Data Entry Operations, Computers, Business Studies, Psychology, Entrepreneurship, Folk Art, and more. One language is mandatory which makes sense too. This system prioritizes courses that equip individuals with skills for future employment or entrepreneurial success
🚸 Children with special needs have the option to use a scribe, who writes while they communicate verbally. They can take exams twice a year and clear all 5 exams over a span of 5 years, allowing flexibility in the process.
